Island on the Grand The second holiday Friday saw rain in the forecast so a local approach was more appropriate. I launched the kayak on the grandriver with intent to explore a new spot Ive always wanted to check out. With fly rod in hand I poked around the train bridge abuttments and drifted downstream along the islands beachy edge. Near the southern tip I found stacks of carp but no interest in the armoured worm.

Toronto I started spring 2024 by booking 8 Fridays off , May through June. The first trip was to an old faithful spot, Tommy Thompson Park in Toronto. Its a man made land mass in lake ontario off the coast of Toronto built with construction waste to provide bird and fish habitat along with public outdoor space. I paddled across from Cherry Beach on my kayak as the park is closed on weekdays.

“Splash” I floated the stretch of the Speed below the American Standard dam in Hespeler before but never above. There’s a nice put in off spring st with a parking lot and a floating dock. Shallow flats covered with Lilly pads fill in most of the pond and the river carves a channel down the south bank line with downed trees, perfect habitat for carp and bass. It wasn’t long before I spotted some, but lack of practice maneuvering the kayak caused some blown opportunities.

Splash I got out this week for some exploration of an old haunt. My eye caught some tails waving on the mud flats so I suited up and went in. It wasnt long before the armoured worm was chased down by these hungry lil carps. Armoured Worm
