      <description>The river has been quiet for a long time, a frustrating silence after months of dry spells. Then, the riverbot finally dinged, announcing a fall high-water event. It felt like the perfect excuse to get out there and check the speed river nearby. I figured this might be the last chance this year to really feel the power of the water before it settles down for winter.
I headed out with the plan to just cast and see what happened.</description>
